Perfection is something we strive for but rarely attain.

So, the fact that a 10-year-old accomplished the feat is even more unimaginable.

Last Saturday in Miami, Brie Komanski, a 10-year-old gymnast from Gainesville, made history by earning a perfect 10.0 score on the uneven bars at the USAG Florida State Gymnastics Meet.

The perfect score also earned her the No. 1 ranking in the U.S. on the Uneven Bars.

In addition to her perfect 10 and No. 1 ranking, the talented young gymnast is currently ranked as the No. 2 gymnast in Florida in multiple events, including Beam, Floor, and All-Around, and holds the No. 3 spot on Vault in the state.

Her remarkable consistency and skill across all events have made her a standout performer at the state and national levels.

Beyond gymnastics, Brie excels as a student-athlete.

She attends The Rock School and is enrolled in the rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Her dedication to academics and athletics has made her a role model for young athletes everywhere.

“I’m incredibly proud of Brie for her remarkable progress and all she has achieved so far,” said coach Peter Emery. “Her work ethic, passion, and relentless pursuit of perfection make her a joy to coach. This perfect 10 is just the beginning of what I’m sure will be a very bright future in the sport.”

As she continues to break records and achieve new milestones, Brie is one of the youngest gymnasts to be recognized at the national and state levels, and her journey is just beginning.

Brie will be performing with Dance Alive National Ballet in Ocala at the Riley Center this Sunday through Tuesday (5 shows) and in Gainesville at the Phillips Center next Wednesday through Sunday (8 shows) as part of their statewide The Nutcracker tour, further showcasing her versatility and commitment to excellence.

“Brie is an outstanding student in ballet and is the youngest child in the ‘party scene’ of The Nutcracker due to her exceptional talent,” said Director Kim Pofahl Tuttle. “There is no doubt she will excel in dance and gymnastics, making all of us here at Pofahl Studios and Dance Alive proud of her, her talent and her beautiful personality.”

A special thank you to Dr. Carolynn Komanski for providing info and quotes about Brie. We look forward to following her progress and wish her the best moving forward.

Meanwhile, another local gymnast also shined at USAG Level 5 State Championship.

According to a press release by her parent Jaime Swanson, nine-year-old Claire Swanson earned first-place finishes in the individual events in her age division.

She finished with a 9.550 on the bars, a 9.575 on the floor, and a 9.525 (Vault).

Her exceptional performance across all events secured her a total score of 37.400, earning her a No. 3 ranking in Florida for All-Around in her division.

Claire’s achievements are a testament to her dedication, discipline, and passion for the sport. With countless hours of training, her consistency and poise under pressure have
distinguished her as one of Florida’s most promising young gymnasts.

“Watching Claire perform with such grace and confidence was inspiring,” said Pete Emery, her coach at Sun Country Gymnastics. “Her first-place finishes and all-around
ranking is well-deserved, and I’m excited to see what she’ll accomplish next.”

This championship marks a significant milestone in Claire’s gymnastics career showcasing her potential for continued success at the state and national levels.

Claire, who attends Archer Elementary School where she is in the Gifted and Talented Magnet program, also takes ballet and jazz classes at Cameron Dancenter in Gainesville. She is already preparing for her next challenges as she continues her journey in competitive gymnastics in Level 7.

Her commitment to excellence, both in the gym and as a role model to her peers, has made her a source of pride for the Archer community, and her accomplishments at the USAG Level 5 State Championship are just the beginning of what promises to be a bright future in the sport.
