The Friday game between the 6-1 Newberry Panthers and 2-3 Santa Fe Raiders football teams has been cancelled.

According to Alachua County Public School Spokesperson Jackie Johnson, the varsity SFHS team is in quarantine with an undisclosed number of COVID-19 cases.

The Alachua County Public Schools COVID-19 dashboard reports  7 active COVID-19 cases at SFHS and zero cases for NHS, but does not report on how many of those pertain to the football team.

Mike Ridaught, the founder of The Prep Zone, had chosen the Newberry-Santa Fe matchup to be the week eight high school football Game of the Week on I am Country 106.9 FM, but was able to find a quick replacement.

“This Friday’s football game between Newberry and Santa Fe has been canceled due toCOVID-19,” he posted on The Prep Zone Facebook page. The game was scheduled to air on I Am Country 106.9. However, we have added another game.
