Teen arrested for shooting 12-year-old

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASO) has made an arrest in the case of a Gainesville 12-year-old who suffered multiple gunshot wounds earlier this week. 

The ASO reports that Quashaunti Samuel, 18, turned herself into law enforcement Tuesday evening. She has been charged with attempted murder.

The ASO said detectives continue to investigate the active case.

The arrest marks the fifth teen authorities have arrested in connection with shootings in the span of a week. Late last week the ASO and Gainesville police took four other teens into custody after a shooting at the American Legion left five juveniles hospitalized.
