
An 86-year-old Suwannee woman died Sunday evening when she pulled out in front of another vehicle on State Road 247 northeast of Branford.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the 86-year-old woman was driving a van north and failed to yield at a stop sign on County Road 137 at 7:15 p.m. She attempted to make a left turn onto SR 247 but was struck by an oncoming van driven by a 35-year-old Suwannee woman on the left side.
Emergency responders transported the driver and passenger from the first van to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville where the 86-year-old driver was pronounced dead and the passenger was evaluated for injury. Emergency responders also transported the 35-year-old driver of the second van and five passengers to Lake City Medical Center for injury evaluation.
