A 50-year-old Lake City man died when he was hit by an SUV while walking on US Highway 441 in Columbia County early Saturday morning.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 56-year-old Lake City woman was driving a Subaru Forester northbound on US Highway 441 near NW Meeks Street at 12:15 a.m. when she hit the Lake City man walking in the north travel lane immediately in the SUV’s path.
The SUV driver came to a controlled stop a short distance later while the pedestrian came to a final rest in the northbound lane of US 441.
