The U.S. State Department on Thursday urged Americans living in other countries and overseas to be more cautious, warning that the possibility of terror attacks or general violence against Americans had grown.

The department specified that Americans should stay alert in locations frequented by tourists.

Why did the State Department issue this warning? The report comes as an ongoing war rages between Israel and the Gaza-based terrorist organization Hamas. The United States has already authorized the departure of the families of government personnel, and non-emergency personnel, from Israel and nearby Lebanon.
