Southbound lanes on Interstate 75 near the Newberry Road exit stopped Thursday morning after three tractor-trailers and one car were involved in a crash.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a car traveling southbound on I-75 at 11:36 a.m. hydroplaned across the lanes and struck the center median guardrail ahead of three tractor-trailers. When the car traveled back across the road to the west shoulder.
A 45-year-old Indianapolis, Indiana man driving a tractor-trailer witnessed the car’s movement and attempted to go from the left lane to the right lane, which caused a series of collisions with two other tractor-trailers — one being driven by a 30-year-old Tampa man and another being driven by a 49-year-old Sparks, Georgia man.
All three tractor-trailers finally stopped and blocked all the southbound lanes on I-75.
No one was injured and all three lanes were re-opened around 2:35 p.m.
According to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) release, all southbound lanes at mile marker 387 were closed and traffic was being diverted due to the crash.
