Pickup hits school bus in Lake City, injures 1 child

Two Alachua County Public School buses were involved in collisions that left four injured Tuesday morning.

A pickup collided with the side of a school bus in Lake City on Thursday afternoon, injuring one child.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 54-year-old Lake City man was driving a school bus north on State Road 47 and was preparing to turn right onto SW Walter Avenue at 2:14 p.m. when a 31-year-old Lake City man driving a pickup traveling behind the bus struck the right side of the bus.

Twenty children were on the school bus at the time of the crash with one child sustaining minor injuries. The injured child was treated released at the scene and released to his parents.

The pickup driver also sustained minor injuries.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
