From March 31 through April 4, Alachua County residents have a chance to regain their suspended driver’s licenses.

During those dates, the Alachua County Clerk’s Office will be open from 8:15 a.m. until 5 p.m. for Operation Green Light, an opportunity to pay off old obligations and save up to 25% on collection agency fees in Alachua County cases.

Those who wish to participate will have two options:

Become A Member

Mainstreet does not have a paywall, but pavement-pounding journalism is not free. Join your neighbors who make this vital work possible.

  1. Pay the full original amount, with cash, check or any major credit card (credit card payments require a 3.5% convenience fee)

All additional collection agency fees and interest will be waived, the case will be cleared and the party will be cleared to lift the suspension from their driver’s license.

  1. Set up a payment plan to satisfy obligations

Collection agency fees will be waived, but interest will remain, and the case will remain open until the payment plan is completed.

Initiating the payment plan will enable clearing the driver’s license of suspension.

Driver’s license reinstatement fees cannot be waived or included in a payment plan. A payment plan requires a $25 initiation cost, and if the plan is not completed, the case will be returned to the collection agency and the fees reapplied.

Payment, or the set-up of a payment plan, can be made over the phone or in-person at both Alachua County Courthouse during business hours March 31-April 4.

The phone number is 352-374-3636, and the courthouse addresses are as follows:

So many people nowadays drive with a suspended license and they just don’t care. I doubt there will be many people taking advantage of this. They don’t care about rules and laws.
