Missing North Port kids stopped on I-75 in Alachua

Two North Port children were pulled over in a stolen vehicle on Interstate 75 in the city of Alachua on Thursday morning.

According to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) release, deputies located the white sedan reported stolen out of North Port at 3:50 a.m. traveling on I-75, leading to a high risk traffic stop.

Inside the vehicle were two missing New Port children. The driver was a 10-year-old boy and the passenger was his 11-year-old sister. The siblings had been reported as missing by the North Port Police Department and the stolen vehicle belonged to their mother.

The children’s mother declined to pursue charges after being contacted. She then made the three-hour drive north to Alachua County to take custody of her children, according to the release.
