The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a hit-and-run incident this morning at approximately 6:16 am in Marion County.
According to the FHP incident report, an SUV was traveling west on SE 112th Street Road in Belleview as a pedestrian was crossing, and was struck by the front of the SUV. After being struck, the pedestrian, a 58-year-old female resident of Belleview, fell on the south shoulder of the road, and was later pronounced dead by Marion County Fire Rescue.
The driver of the SUV did not stop and fled the scene westbound on SE 112th Street Road. According to the report, the vehicle is a 2018-2020 dark grey or dark silver colored Dodge Durango SUV and may have damage to the front of the vehicle and/or its hood.

The crash is under investigation, and the FHP did not release the name of the deceased pedestrian.
