The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two car crash last night at approximately 11:25 pm. on or near the intersection of US Highway 441 and NE Christie Street north of Lake City in Columbia County.
Vehicle 1, a 2002 Pontiac driven by a 45-year old male from Lake City, was traveling south on US Highway 441. Vehicle 2, a 2013 Ford driven by a 57-year-old female from Lake City, was traveling north on US Highway 441.
For unknown reasons, Vehicle 1 crossed the centerline into the northbound lane where it struck Vehicle 2 head-on.
The driver and passenger (a 34-year old male from Lake City) of Vehicle 2 were transported to Lake City Medical Center. In the report, it states that the driver’s injuries were serious, and the passenger’s injuries were minor.
Driver 1 was transported to UF Health in Gainesville where he was later pronounced deceased.
