Lake City man, 77, dies when SUV collides with tree in Columbia County

A 77-year-old Lake City man died Saturday morning when his Ford Explorer traveled off SW Finley Little Road in Columbia County.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the man was driving his SUV east on SW Finley Little Road near SW Soltice Court south of Lake City at 8:16 a.m. when he traveled off the roadway to the northside of SW Finley Little Road and collided with a tree.

Emergency responders transported him to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, where he was pronounced dead. He was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt.
