Georgia man hits guardrail, dies in I-75 car crash

A 48-year-old Georgia man died Tuesday night after the vehicle he was driving struck a guardrail and careened into I-75 traffic.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, the incident occurred just after 10 p.m. Tuesday around mile marker 400, which is north of the Highway 441 exit in Alachua.

The Atlanta man was driving a sedan north on I-75 when it traveled into the median and struck the guardrail. The vehicle then traveled back into northbound traffic, where it collided with a pickup truck.

The pickup truck driver, a 62-year-old Indiana man, and his passenger, a 50-year-old Indiana woman, both suffered minor injuries.

Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
