Multiple fire units were able to extinguish a blaze contained to the garage at a SE 35th Street residence early Thursday morning.

According to an Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) release, units from ACFR, Gainesville Fire Rescue and the Windsor Fire Department responded to the 1:55 a.m. call located off SE Hawthorne Road on SE 35th Street.
When firefighters arrived, they discovered moderate smoke showing and located and attacked the fire in the garage of the home. Units were able to prevent the fire from spreading and kept it contained in the garage.
The residents, due to working smoke detectors that alerted them of the fire, were able to escape without injury.
