A Gainesville 3-year-old rolled a scooter into the street and was fatally struck by a passing truck, according to the Gainesville Police Department (GPD).
GPD says the accident occurred just after 6 p.m. Wednesday evening in the 4100 block NE 15th Street, which is just west of Ironwood Golf Club and the Gainesville Regional Airport.
According to a press release, numerous GDP units and Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene and administered CPR. Gainesville Fire Rescue/Alachua County Fire Rescue also responded and attempted life-saving measures, but the child later died at UF Health Shands.
GPD did not name the victim or the driver of the vehicle but said the investigation is ongoing. Authorities have made no arrests.
