“Units arrived to find a single-vehicle that struck a tree in the median,” ACFR reported. “Units on scene quickly extricated an entrapped patient with the Jaws of Life.”

ACFR transported the driver, a 64-year-old Gainesville man, and the passenger, a 74-year-old Gainesville man, to UF Health Shands Hospital. The driver is in serious condition, while the passenger was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

FHP did not report whether the men were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
