The city of Gainesville is activating its Cold Night Shelter Program (CNS) as temperatures are projected to drop below 45 degrees Fahrenheit Monday through Wednesday nights, Jan. 6-8.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the forecast calls for temperatures to dip to 33 degrees Fahrenheit on Monday night, 31 on Tuesday night and 31 on Wednesday night.
The CNS Program goes into effect when overnight low temperatures dip below 45 degrees.
Both GRACE Marketplace (3055 NE 28th Dr.) and the St. Francis House (413 S. Main St.) provide CNS services to people who need shelter when the temperature drops below 45 degrees.
GRACE primarily serves individual adults while the St. Francis House provides temporary shelter appropriate for families, women and children.
