The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) has evacuated Gainesville’s city hall complex and the Alachua County Administration Building due to an unspecified threat on Tuesday morning.
GPD is on the scene, along with a K-9 unit to sniff for bombs, according to Alachua County spokesman Mark Sexton.
A Gainesville government social media post says there is no current indication that anything outside the city hall complex is affected, but Sexton said the county administration building is also evacuating “out of an abundance of caution.”
The city hall complex includes city hall and the old library building.
