With overnight temperatures projected to be in the high 20s to low 30s Friday through Sunday, the city of Gainesville has activated its Cold Night Shelter Program (CNS).
The National Weather Service (NWS) has forecasted overnight temperatures to drop to 33 degrees on Friday, 28 degrees on Saturday and 37 degrees on Sunday.
The CNS Program goes into effect when overnight low temperatures dip below 45 degrees.
Both GRACE Marketplace at the Empowerment Center and the St. Francis House provide CNS services to people who need shelter when the temperature drops below 45 degrees.
GRACE primarily serves individual adults while the St. Francis House provides temporary shelter appropriate for families, women and children.
