Multiple crews responded Tuesday to a fire that destroyed a Micanopy home.

According to an Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) release, units from ACFR, Cross Creek Fire Department, Windsor Fire Department and the Micanopy Fire Department were dispatched to the 18000 block of SE 75th Street at 5:35 p.m.

Micanopy firefighters were first on scene and discovered the home was 75% engulfed in flames. Residents were at home when the fire started and were able to safely exit, but one family pet was still unaccounted for.

With no fire hydrants present, water was shuttled to the scene using tanker trucks. It took crews an hour to extinguish the fire and the home was a total loss.

The Red Cross was called to assist the residents and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
