Multiple firefighter units responded Monday to a fire that consumed 50 acres and damaged two small structures and two pieces of farm equipment near Chiefland.
According to a Chiefland Fire Department (CFD) social media release, units from Bronson Fire Department, Fanning Springs Fire Rescue, Levy County Department of Public Safety, Cedar Key Fire Rescue and the Florida Forest Service worked to extinguish the fire by Monday evening. No homes were damaged and no injuries were reported.
The fire was located in the area of the 6500 block of NW 60th Street south of Chiefland.
According to a WCJB story, the fire started by someone conducting an unauthorized burn and dry conditions caused the fire to spread.
