Update (10:02 a.m., Sept. 15): FHP reports next of kin for the scooter driver were contacted.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is asking the public to help identify the victim in a scooter fatality that occurred in Live Oak last Wednesday.
According to FHP, at 9:45 p.m., the driver of a Honda scooter was rear-ended for unknown reasons by a Jeep Cherokee traveling northbound on CR 49 near the S&S convenience store located south of US Hwy 90.
The incident knocked the scooter rider to the ground, but as he was being removed from the road, a 2016 Nissan Altima struck and killed him, according to FHP.
Authorities have been unable to identify the man and thus notify the next of kin, leading to a public call for identification help.
FHP reports the scooter driver was a white male with a small to medium build and balding hair. He had a short, cropped gray beard and multiple tattoos. The man also had a large eagle tattoo on his chest, a tattoo of a microphone on his right bicep, and a tattoo of a young child on his rib cage with the name “Jailyn.”
