The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is asking the public for information related to a fatal bicycle wreck last week in Lake City.
The accident occurred around 6:50 p.m. last Monday, Dec. 27, along U.S. Highway 90 west of NE Cherokee Court in Lake City. According to FHP, a black 2021 Kia Forte driven by a 21-year-old Lake City female was traveling eastbound when she hit and killed a 39-year-old Lake City male riding a black Schwinn bicycle.
In its initial report, which FHP noted was subject to change, investigators said it appeared the bicyclist was riding in the roadway when the accident occurred. Now they’re looking to gather more information from anyone who may have witnessed the collision.
