The fourth annual DJs Unite for LifeSouth blood drive is slated for Saturday and will feature chances to win passes to area theme parks.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at LifeSouth’s Newberry Road donor center (4039 Newberry Rd.) in Gainesville. The community is invited to join DJs and staff from 106.9 I Am Country, Magic 101.3, 100.9 The Beach, R&B 94.1 and 100.5 The Buzz at the fourth annual DJs Unite for LifeSouth blood drive.
“We are, as a staff, excited about this event,” said Larry Wilson, program director for 106.9 I Am Country and 100.9 The Beach. “It’s going to be hot [outside], but we’re going to push through as a staff for all of our MARC Radio Group radio stations, and this year we’ve enhanced the prize.”
Donors have the chance to win two passes to Disney World and Busch Gardens. Donors will also receive a commemorative T-shirt and a $25 eGift card.
The event kicked off in July 2021 with 50 donors participating. The second event took place in 2022.
LifeSouth has been part of the Gainesville community since 1974 and opened at the request of local hospitals. The organization is the lone provider of blood to the three major Gainesville hospitals that include UF Health Shands, HCA Florida North Florida Hospital and the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center.
When donating, people will receive a complimentary cholesterol screening and a recognition item. All donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental permission), be in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. Photo IDs are required.
