A 14-year-old Cross City boy died when he was ejected Monday afternoon from a UTV side-by-side in Dixie County.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 50-year-old Cross City man was driving a UTV at 4:42 p.m. on SE 163rd Street south of Cross City on a dirt road when the vehicle entered standing water. The driver lost control of the UTV and the teenage passenger was ejected.
Emergency responders pronounced the passenger dead on scene. The driver received minor injuries.
The Dixie County Sheriff’s Office and Dixie County Fire and Rescue also assisted on scene.
