According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 51-year-old Chiefland man attempted to pass several cars while on a curve on NE 264th Avenue at 3:30 p.m. He entered the shoulder of the road, crossed a dirt driveway and, while attempting to re-enter the road, sideswiped an SUV being driven by a 32-year-old Old Town woman.
