DeSantis appoints Lake City attorney to Columbia County Court

On Thursday, Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Charles Garrett Hill to serve as a judge on the Columbia County Court.

Hill, who has served as an assistant state attorney for the Third Judicial Circuit in Lake City since 2020, previously served as an assistant state attorney in the Fourth Judicial Circuit in Jacksonville.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Faulkner University and completed his juris doctor from Florida State University.

Hill fills the judicial vacancy created by the July 1, 2024, enactment of HB 5401, which revised the number of circuit and county judges.
