Investigators have identified a deceased suspect and two victims involved in what the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office believes was a murder-suicide in Hawthorne.

Maximus Daniel Lacava, 17, is the suspected shooter of victims Gilbert Mayson, 14 and Andrea M. Price, 45.

Mayson and Lacava died at the scene at 16331 SE CR 2082 in Hawthorne on Monday, Jan. 4th.

According to reports, the ASO responded to a 911 call received at 4:35 p.m. regarding a shooting.

They found two victims deceased and one adult, their 45-year old mother, who was transported in very critical condition due to gunshot wounds, to a local hospital.

ASO spokesperson Art Forgey reported that the ASO was not looking for any suspects outside the three people it has identified: “We believe at this time that it is a murder/suicide type crime.”
