The Alachua County Crisis Center will host a virtual health and wellness symposium on Sept. 16-18.
The free event will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and residents interested in the symposium are encouraged to click here and register online by Sunday, Sept. 15 for the online sessions that interest them the most. Students who attend may receive a certificate of attendance confirming their participation.
This year’s theme for the annual symposium, in honor of suicide prevention month (September), is “Writing Our Own Stories of Wellness and Healing.”
The symposium features mental health paraprofessionals and professionals who will share their experiences and expertise with participants. While not intended to replace therapy or counseling services, the symposium will assist people outside of the mental health field who encounter misinformation or advice regarding mental health that is inaccurate.
