UF College of Public Health and Health Professions students will host CarFit on Friday, a free educational program that will offer free 12-point vehicle check to older drivers.
The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Senior Recreation Center (5701 N.W. 34th St., Gainesville). All ages are welcome.
Trained students will go through a 12-point checklist with drivers on their vehicles and make recommended adjustments, which include adequate space from the steering wheel, properly adjusting head restraints and appropriate seatbelt use.
An occupational therapist will also be on hand to provide information about how to maintain and strengthen driving health.
CarFit is a national program provided by the UF Department of Occupational Therapy. The national sponsors include AAA, AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
