Sweetwater Wetlands Park will celebrate its designation as a Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail site on Friday, with tours, a sign unveiling and a scavenger hunt.

The events will start at 8 a.m. with a bird walk led by the Alachua Audubon Society followed by a sign unveiling and scavenger hunt launch at 10:30 a.m. Ranger-led walks and tram tours will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In September, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission named the park one of 14 new sites to join the trail. Sweetwater Wetlands Park marks the ninth Alachua County site to earn a spot.
