What Gainesville is saying:
The last time I went to Satchels there was a gigantic roach crawling across the wall and all of the staff just ignored it.
I’m sorry to hear that. We do not have a roach problem at Satchels. We never have had problems with roaches and we have regular pest control of course. If you saw a giant roach it is likely one of the palmetto bugs that came in when the door was open. The doors open and close hundreds of times a day and the garden out front does get palmetto bugs. But I can assure you there is not a roach issue. If you want, you can come see the kitchen on a day we’re closed to see if you can find any roaches and notice how incredibly clean our kitchen is. In fact I doubt you’ll find a cleaner kitchen. You can email me satchelsgville@gmail.com for a kitchen tour anytime.
And , a very friendly staff and owner. Love Satchels
I just had two palmetto bugs crawl out of the kitchen sink and have never had bugs in my home. It’s Florida, it happens. And I’d rather see one on the wall than getting smashed near where I’m eating.
Satchel’s is the best. They also do gluten free crusts, have great desserts, have great shopping at Lightning Salvage if you have to wait for your table, have a great lunch special and more!
We agree Jim! It has something for everyone!
Ridiculous, not to include Mark’s Prime, Gainesville’s best!
It’s another great option!
I can’t believe you didn’t have The Top, or Ballyhoo. Both should be above Ichiban. We went to Ichiban recently and found the floors super greasy and the table sticky. The quality there was down from when they we on 43rd Street.
I think the Top and ballyhoo are too loud and crowded to be considered a “date night” restaurant. Possibly why they weren’t included.
Paramount Grill !
Fantastic place to eat….we love it.
