The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo announced it will raise its admission prices starting Sept. 1.
According to an SF College press release, the admission increase is being made to provide animal care and continued conservation efforts the zoo is involved with. The adjustments were made to support the zoo’s ongoing development, which includes maintenance and expansion of immersive habitats and educational opportunities.
“Our commitment to conservation and preservation of animals is reflected in the changes we are making,” said Jonathan Miot, director of the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo, in the release. “This price change allows us to support the community, our animal residents and wildlife around the world while keeping up with the increased costs we have absorbed since 2019 and throughout the pandemic.”
The new pricing will be as follows:
- Adults (13-59) – $10
- Children (4-12), Seniors (60+), UF students, faculty and staff (with Gator1 ID) – $6
- Children 3 and under, SF students, faculty, staff and retirees (with SFID) – Free
Annual memberships will also increase and will be:
- Individual – $35
- Couple – $60
- Family up to four – $75
- Family up to five – $95
The SF College Zoo will continue to offer numerous discounts for active military and veterans, healthcare workers, teachers and first responders (police, firefighters, EMT). People in these professions will receive discounted $6 admission with valid ID. Individuals who receive EBT assistance will pay only $3 per person (up to four people) as part of the Museums for All program.
According to the release, “the zoo has donated over $140,000 to conservation initiatives which directly support wildlife and their habitats globally. In 2015, the Quarters for Conservation program was launched, dedicating 25 cents of every paid admission to conservation organizations worldwide. With the revised pricing structure, the zoo will double its impact, directing 50 cents from each paid admission toward conservation organizations working to protect wild animals and places.”
The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the last ticket sold at 2:30 p.m. The zoo is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
