The Santa Fe College Art Gallery will present “The South is not Simple – Prints by Molly Kempson” exhibit with an opening reception on Friday.

The free reception is open to the public and is slated from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Santa Fe Gallery located at the Northwest Campus 3000 NW 83 St. in Gainesville. The exhibit will run from Feb. 7 to March 21 and is also free and open to the public.

Kempson, an artist and educator, creates relief prints that explore the intricate history and culture of the American South. Her work incorporates architecture, language, wildlife conservation and historic preservation themes through artist books, letterpress posters and reduction linocut prints. Kempson’s art reflects her experiences from various residencies, including the Coffey Residency in Book Arts, the Ashantilly Press residency and the In Cahoots Residency.

This exhibit will feature Kempson’s works from 2018 to 2025, blending traditional techniques with modern themes to examine the South’s past, present and future. The collection underscores the importance of public support for the arts in addressing cultural and environmental challenges. The SF Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
