“Ride the Rail Trail” slated for Sunday

The Alachua Conservation Trust and First Magnitude Brewing Company will hold the “Ride the Rail Trail,” a community bike ride down Gainesville’s scenic Hawthorne Trail, on Sunday, Nov. 17.

The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and takes place at First Magnitude Brewing, located at 1200 SE Veitch St. in Gainesville.

Proceeds from this event will support the protection and conservation of rail trails.

Route Options

Participants can choose from two routes:

  • Sweetwater Outlook (5-mile route): First Magnitude to Sweetwater Outlook and back.
  • Prairie Creek Preserve (16-mile route): First Magnitude to Prairie Creek Preserve and back.

All riders must sign an ACT waiver at check-in. Registration is available on-site or in advance through Eventbrite, with two package options:

  • Adult Package: Sliding scale $15 to $20, includes entry to the ride and one pour of First Magnitude Beer.
  • Bike Lite Package: Sliding scale $5 to $10, includes entry to the ride.

The ride begins at 11 a.m. and participants are encouraged to arrive early to complete registration. After the ride, attendees can return to First Magnitude to enjoy live music, beer, food trucks and local vendors.
