A Parent Empowerment Network event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose Center in Gainesville.

The free event, hosted by the office of State Rep. Yvonne Hayes, D-Gainesville, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1020 NE 14th St.

The Parent Empowerment Network event will address the needs of the community that may be suffering from misdiagnosed and undiagnosed conditions and will educate and empower parents with significant information so that they can detect early signs.

The areas of focus include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Vision/Hearing Concerns

Parents will be given the tools to better understand the conditions that their children may be manifesting and how-to follow-up for appropriate treatment, therapeutic and educational options. Parents will be educated on the process as well as the services available for their children.
