UF’s Plant Science Council is hosting the Ninth Annual Plant Science Symposium from Jan. 21-22.

The free, student-led event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Reitz Union’s Rion Ballroom (655 Reitz Union Dr., Gainesville) and will provide a space for students, researchers and industry professionals from around the world to connect, share ideas and explore advancements in plant science, according to a press release.

The symposium will feature networking opportunities with leaders in agriculture, conservation and biotechnology, as well as a research poster competition with cash prizes.

Keynote speakers will present on the following topics:

  • UF’s Dr. Rob Ferl: Future-Proofing Plants for a Changing World
  • Michigan State University’s Dr. Sue Rhee: Mechanisms of Plant Adaptation and Acclimation
  • Cornell University’s Dr. Awais Khan: Breeding Resistance to Plant Diseases
  • London’s Natural History Museum’s Dr. Sandra Knapp and Botanical Society of America’s Dr. Catrina Adams: Plant Diversity and Conservation
  • Pairwise CEO Dr. Tom Adams and Norfolk Healthy Produce’s Dr. Nathan Pumplin: Innovations in Plant Biotechnology
