Gainesville to celebrate Lincoln Yard Park completion

The city of Gainesville will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, July 24, for the new Lincoln Yard Park.

The event will take place at 9 a.m. at 2099 SE Eighth Ave. In case of severe weather, the ceremony will be rescheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 25.

Parking for the event is available in the Gainesville Technology Entrepreneurship Center (GTEC) parking lot at 2153 SE Hawthorne Rd. with shuttle service provided 30 minutes before and after the ceremony.

Lincoln Yard Park features a 1/3 mile walking trail, a small playground, interpretive signage, landscaping and adult fitness equipment.

The park was funded by the Wild Spaces Public Places surtax. Construction costs totaled $369,733.

This is such a wonderful addition to that community!!! I often drove past this location wondering why it had fenced off ponds and wasn’t a public space. So glad to see the kids and adults in this area now have a place to sit in nature and get exercise!
