The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) in Gainesville will be a starting location for the “Lauren’s Kids: Walk in my Shoes” event to be held on Tuesday, April 22.
The national event to advocate for child safety, celebrating its 10th year, with registration starting at 11 a.m. at 500 E. University Ave. at the CAC Center. The six-mile walk will begin at noon. There will be a water stop at the three-mile mark, sponsored by the Gainesville Woman’s Club.
Lauren’s Kids Foundation fights to prevent abuse and protect childhood. April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month and National Child Abuse Prevention Month and the 2025 Walk in My Shoes 1,500-mile trek across Florida will be joined by thousands of walkers across the state.
The Gainesville walk will feature friendship bracelet making, along with seeing the Children’s Medical Services building at the water stop, which is where the CAC’s Advocacy Team resides and partners with the Child Protection Team.
While at the three-mile water break, walkers can stop or continue walking. An UBER code will be provided to walkers to cover the cost of a ride back to the starting location. The walk will end in the Curtis M. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts parking lot (3201 Hull Rd.).
