Gainesville author Terrence Ho will showcase his book featuring the history of life in Gainesville at the Matheson History Museum on Thursday, Oct. 17.
The free event will start at 7 p.m. at 513 E. University Ave. in Gainesville.
“The Traveling Canary in Alachua County” is a coffee table book, memoir, art book and history of life in Gainesville. The book is divided into eight sections with 30 to 50 drawings in each section.
Ho, born in Gainesville, has lived here most of his life and all the art in his book was drawn from his life between 2016 to 2024.
The book signing will feature the stories of some of Ho’s pen and ink drawings, which are chosen to represent as much of the county in its 200th anniversary year. The event will include a Q&A session that focuses on the history of the area and the inclusion of places from the National Register of Historic Places. Ho may even perform some of his songs that are relevant to the book. Large prints of drawings from the book will be available for purchase.
