
Entering its 59th Season, Dance Alive National Ballet (DANB) will hold open auditions on Aug. 24.
The auditions will take place from 12:30 – 6 p.m. at Pofahl Studios, 1325 NW 2nd St. in Gainesville.
Auditions are for DANB, The Nutcracker, and the Next Generation youth group.
Artistic Director for DANB, Kim Tuttle, will be casting for roles in The Nutcracker and DANB’s 2024-2025 productions. Next Generation’s directors will also be selecting members for the 2024-2025 company.
There is an audition fee of $25.
Dancers auditioning should arrive 30 minutes early to fill out paperwork and receive their number.
There is a dress code for auditioning. Girls must wear a black leotard, pink tights, appropriate shoes and have hair up. Boys must wear a white shirt, black tights, shorts or bicycle pants and appropriate shoes. Acrobats must wear appropriate clothing.

12:30 – 1:15 p.m. ages 7 – 8, 1:30 – 2:15 p.m. ages 9 – 10, 2:15 – 3:15 p.m. ages 11-13
Ballet experience is required. Audition for soldiers, party children, Franz’s friends, mice and Next Generation.
3:30 – 4:15 p.m. ages 11 – 14 Second year pointe as of August 2024. Same-age jazz dancers.
4:30 – 5:15 p.m. ages 12 – 17 Third year pointe as of August 2024. Same-age jazz dancers.
Ballet experience is required. Point work for those roles on pointe. Audition for party children, Franz’s friends, Clara’s friends, young adults, mice, angels, snowflakes, Act II corps DANB and Next Generation.
5:30 – 6 p.m. ages 7 – 18 Audition for tumblers.
Must be able to do back handsprings, splits, headstands, front and back walkovers, and aerial tricks.
The Nutcracker tour begins Nov. 23 in Alachua and heads to South Carolina, Village, Belle Glade, and Ocala before returning to Alachua County and some dancers will be selected to tour with the group. The Gainesville performances on Dec. 18 – 22 will conclude the tour.
