The Cotton Club Museum & Cultural Center will present “Black Cowboys & Cowgirls in Florida: Then and Now” on Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5.

This two-day event, held at 837 SE 7th Ave. in Gainesville, will highlight the rich history and contributions of Black cowboys and cowgirls in American history and offer a fun, educational experience for all ages.

  • Friday, April 4, 6 p.m.: Enjoy captivating talks from cowboy and cowgirl speakers, explore a walk-through history panorama, and watch a film showcasing the legacy of Black cowboys and cowgirls in American history. Popcorn will be provided.
  • Saturday, April 5, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.: Experience a fun-filled day featuring horse rides for kids and adults, lively music, and line dancing. Learn about modern farming, ranching, and agriculture while enjoying delicious food for sale. Don’t miss the exciting lasso and roping demonstrations.
