The Alachua County Arboriculture Program will celebrate Florida’s Arbor Day on Friday and is inviting residents to learn more about tree planting and preservation.
The event is at 1 p.m. at Wilson Robinson Park at 13975 SW 174th St. in Archer.
Participants will learn more about Alachua County’s tree planting and preservation programs and how to plant and care for young trees.
Residents are encouraged to bring their families to help plant a tree. They can also take home a free fruit tree to plant.
“Trees are the oldest and largest living beings on our planet; they are a legacy from the past and a promise to the future,” said Alachua County Arborist Lacy Holtzworth in a press release. “We celebrate Arbor Day to help people better understand trees and plant new trees as a promise to the future.”
