The League of Women Voters of Alachua County, a non-partisan organization dedicated to informing and engaging voters, will host two candidate forums for the upcoming April 8 elections in Alachua and Newberry.
These forums allow voters to hear directly from candidates and make informed decisions ahead of Election Day.
Forum Schedule:
- Alachua City Commission Candidate Forum – 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, at the Hathcock Community Center, 15818 NW 140th St, Alachua. All candidates have been invited to participate. Contests for City Commission Seat 1 (Mayor) and Seat 2 will be on the ballot.
- Newberry City Commission Candidate Forum – 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, at the Mentholee Norfleet Municipal Building, 25440 W Newberry Rd, Newberry. All candidates have been invited to participate. Contests for Mayor, Commissioner Group IV and Commissioner Group V will be on the ballot.
Each forum will allow all candidates to discuss their platforms, address key issues and interact with residents. The events will be moderated to ensure a fair and respectful discussion.
The forums are free and open to the public. For those unable to attend in person, the League will make a complete recording available after the event.
On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Election Day voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters must vote in the polling place to which they are assigned.
