Cornell elected to Florida Association of Counties Board of Directors

Alachua County Commissioner Ken Cornell was recently elected to the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) Board of Directors.

According to an Alachua County release, Cornell was elected at the association’s annual conference.

“I am both humbled and energized by the trust placed in me by my colleagues,” said Cornell in the press release. “I have seen firsthand the importance of counties having a strong voice in Tallahassee as we advocate for home-rule protections and our residents.”

Cornell will represent Alachua County’s interests as he oversees the association’s policy efforts and initiatives during his two-year term as an elected FAC Board of Directors member.

“Commissioner Cornell’s extensive knowledge and experience in local government make him an exceptional choice for the Board of Directors,” said FAC President and Okeechobee County Commissioner Terry Burroughs in the press release. “He has been carefully selected by fellow commissioners to take on this position, and I am confident he will excel and lead with expertise.” 

According to the release, Burroughs announced Cornell’s appointments to the following policy committees for the 2024-25 Policy Development Process:

  • Agriculture & Rural Affairs Policy Committee
  • Federal Policy Committee
  • Finance, Tax, & Administration Policy Committee
  • Future Technology Policy Committee
  • Water & Environmental Sustainability Policy Committee

These appointments will be in addition to Cornell’s current role as Chair of the Community & Urban Affairs Policy Committee.
