UF fall commencement ceremonies slated for this week

More than 4,100 students are scheduled to graduate from the University of Florida at the fall commencement ceremonies on Friday and Saturday.

Four ceremonies will be held in the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center (250 Gale Lemerand Dr.) in Gainesville on Dec. 15-16.

On Friday, Natália Peres, a UF professor of plant pathology who is pioneering the use of AI in strawberry plant disease detection, will speak at 2 p.m. at the doctoral commencement ceremony and at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the bachelor’s and master’s ceremony.

On Saturday, NASA administrator and U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson will address the 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. ceremonies. 

The first ceremony, at 2 p.m. on Friday, will celebrate 200 doctoral graduates.

The second ceremony, at 7 p.m. on Friday, will be for bachelor’s, master’s and specialist’s degree graduates from the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, College of Medicine, College of Nursing, College of Public Health and Health Professions and the College of Veterinary Medicine.

At 9 a.m. on Saturday, students from the bachelor’s, master’s and specialist’s degrees commencement ceremony for the College of Journalism and Communications and the Warrington College of Business will conduct their commencement ceremony.

The second Saturday ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. for the bachelor’s, master’s, and specialist’s degree graduates from the College of Education and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

The final ceremony is slated for 7 p.m. on Saturday for the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences; College of the Arts; College of Design, Construction and Planning; College of Health and Human Performance and the College of Pharmacy bachelor’s, master’s, and specialist’s graduates. 

UF’s fall graduates come from six continents, representing 75 countries and 48 states.
