
The Frazer School’s high school team won their regional competition for the 2025 National Science Bowl (NSB) this month.
Winning teams from 64 high school regionals will compete in the National Finals from April 24-28 in Washington, D.C. The national event will include several days of science activities and sightseeing, as well as competitions.
The team, coached by David Buffkin and Marc Moody, included Ajay Sawant, Jaganesh Ramkrishnan, Anish Patel, James Jiang and Michael Wei.
The Frazer School’s middle school science bowl team won their regional competition as well, in February, and will proceed to the middle school section of the National Finals in April.
The top two middle and high school teams at the NSB National Finals will win $5,000 for their schools’ math and science departments, and other schools in the top 16 will win $1,000 for their schools’ science departments.
Each year, more than 10,000 students compete in the NSB, with teams composed of four students, an alternate and a teacher who serves as advisor and coach.
The NSB competition tests students in science disciplines including biology, chemistry earth science, physics, energy and math. The competition is sponsored and managed by the U.S. Department of Energy.
