Students in Alachua County’s Take Stock in Children Program were recognized Tuesday for completing nine weeks of training in resilience and communication, an immersive series on how to best handle challenges and excel in personal and professional life.

The students received graduation certificates in a ceremony at Buchholz High School. At the end of the program, each also received a surprise: A new laptop computer, provided by AT&T.

“This is wonderful,” said Gainesville High School 9th grader Camilla Gavilano as she and her mom Giovana Perazzo celebrated. “My laptop is years old and so not up to date.”

A total of 43 students enrolled in the program, but only the 20 who reached graduation received a laptop.

The “Resilient Paths” experience was a project of Stock in Children, the Alachua County Education Foundation and the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations.
