A white pickup hit and killed a 61-year-old Maryland man walking south along US Highway 301 in north Starke on Saturday night.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the white pickup was traveling south on US 301 near NW 185th Avenue at 8:12 p.m. in the right lane when the driver struck the pedestrian from Fort Washington, Maryland.
The pickup did not stop and fled the scene and was last seen traveling south on US 301.
Emergency responders transported the pedestrian to HCA Starke Emergency where he was pronounced deceased.
